You’ve probably heard this a million times… that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. So, you shouldn’t have a problem with us telling you again. “BREAKFAST IS THE MOST IMPORTANT MEAL OF THE DAY!!!” However, you probably don’t have a strong understanding as to why. It all comes back to the the digestive system. After your normal 6 to 8 hours of sleep, your digestive system wakes up when you do… and starts the process of breaking down foods in your body to supply you with the energy for the day ahead. Much like an engine in a car, your body needs fuel to get started. By not giving it a sufficient amount of fuel in the morning… saying by skipping breakfast, or just having a coffee…. you make it rely on fat storage in your body to get the digestion started, so that it can send energy to your body and brain for the day of tasks ahead. That fat storage in your body is a very slow draw of energy, because your body always wants to conserve more fat for emergency situations. Say, like when you need to run from an attacker, or you come precariously close to being hit by a car, and instinctively jump back (Better luck next time grandpa). By feeding your body a full and complete breakfast in the morning, you allow your digestive system to use that new fuel immediately, and not rely on your reserve fat storage. Essentially letting your engine rev into high gear, and want to burn more fat. You heard us. Eating a healthy breakfast helps you lose fat. You will also find that by having that breakfast, that your brain functionality will be greater during the day, and you will be able to focus and resolve problems quicker. Remember, your brain is a huge muscle too! That way you’ll always be too steps ahead of grandpa. Win-win!
